Location: Flexible location at any main SSEN site in South East England including; Reading and Portsmouth

Salary: £34,123 - £50,539 (Dependent on skills and experience)

The Real Time Systems Field team are part of the SSE Real Time System (RTS) Group that provides the systems used by the SSE Network Management Centre to monitor and control the SSE Electricity Networks.

We are looking for a Real Time Systems Field Engineer to join our team in the South of England region. As a RTS Field Engineer you will be responsible for the day to day maintenance and fault rectification of RTS equipment. You will also support the RTS Delivery Team with the supervision of new projects and participate in an Emergency Standby support rota will be required.

To ensure you get the most from your role, we ask for you to hold some key skills and experience. You should have field experience working in one or more of the following; RTUs, Telemetry Protocols, ADSL Communications, Teleprotection Systems, analogue or digital Radio Scanning and  Automation schemes. An HNC in telecommunications, IT, electronics or a related subject is preferred; however, we welcome applications from individuals with equivalent experience and training in the field. Whilst the above is important, we also look for our employees to be excellent communicators. As such, you’ll possess an ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels and be able to convey complex messages in an easy to understand manner. Your organisation skills will be second to none and you will be open to new ideas working innovatively with a pragmatic approach.

As much of the technology being implemented is relatively new, training will be given where necessary. Candidates with the above experience will be considered for this role at grade 7 (£34,123 - £45,066).

In addition to the above criteria, candidates with proven practical experience in RTU configuration, a strong understanding of DNP3, or Schneider EWISP+ protocol and experience in the deployment of IP communications devices such as routers / switches will be considered for this role at a grade 8 (£38,265- £50,539)
