What’s the opportunity?
Major Equipment Procurement is responsible for procuring all complex subcontract equipment and services which are designed and or adapted by the supplier to meet the bespoke needs of MBDA.  An opportunity has arisen in the UK Major Equipment Procurement team responsible for procuring on behalf of MBDA’s complex weapon programmes and future technology programmes.

What will you be doing?
  • Implementing strategies associated with the sub-contract(s) to deliver maximum business advantage in line with business plans, in the high value/high risk and complex political environment.
  • Managing Business Relationships with Supplier of highly complex equipment and in long term relationships including implementing Supplier Relationship Management techniques
  • Seeking ways to continually improve the Supplier to be a high performing supplier
  • Monitoring the health of the Supplier and identifying risks associated with the supplier
  • Managing the major supplier related aspects of the business winning process associated with one or more major suppliers being accountable for drafting and negotiation of complex RFQ’s, sub-contracts, contract amendments and other industrial agreements ensuring they meet the requirements of the Project and minimise risk and cost to MBDA. 
  • Ensuring the Sub-contractor delivers to programme in line with project requirements within authorized budgets and technical requirements.
  • Ensuring the Sub-contractor performs in accordance with their contractual obligations
  • Ensuring MBDA’s Commercial position is protected and improved where possible at all times
  • Ensuring MBDA has adequate visibility of the sub-contractor programmes to enable resolution of Sub-contractor problems before they impact MBDA.
  • Supporting cost reduction activities, undertaking risk management and change management within the delivery team to maximise commercial benefit to MBDA.
  • Forecasting cash payments in order that MBDA business plans are achieved.
  • Constantly aware of, and implement strategies, to overcome problems that may hazard timely delivery of project requirements or cost. 
  • Running supplier meetings including regular progress reviews to ensure contract performance and understand status of sub contracts.
  • Being an active member of an integrated, mulit-functional project team
  • Ensure task directives & commitment placed are in line and maintained topical
  • Participating in project and functional process improvement opportunities, sharing best practice where appropriate within other sectors/projects.
  • Promoting best practice and functional excellence.
  • Occasional management of one or two subordinates to ensure they are effectively directed at achievement of company and project objectives.
  • Working with supply chain resources to maximize contribution to the project.
  • When applicable, provide subordinates with help and guidance through a mixture of direction and coaching (as considered appropriate) ensuring effective personal development plans and 1 to 1’s are undertaken in a timely manner to maximize the development of individuals in the team.

  • Enthusiastic, proactive and adaptable individual able to deal with complex situations and effectively influence senior stakeholders;
  • Competent contract negotiator with ability to draft contract agreements and approve terms and conditions to maximise the benefit to MBDA;
  • A natural communicator, able to build strong relationships, with experience in driving multi-functional teams and delivering to tight time-scales;
  • Strong relationship management and negotiation skills with the ability to lead and influence key stakeholders and suppliers;
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office IT packages (SAP, Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point).
