From the smallest details to leading the biggest decisions, your impact will be out of this world.

Here at HMGCC, we’re a centre of technical excellence. Using world-class tech, we develop unique communication systems to help safeguard the country. We’re now looking for talented individuals to lead our software engineering activities, and help us solve complex cyber challenges.

The role

Working as a Technical Lead at HMGCC means you get to lead the end-to-end development of key products and technologies that will make significant contributions to the UK Government's ability to communicate and protect national security. You'll take on challenges considered too difficult or sensitive to be done elsewhere and, through the insights our unique relationships with our customer agencies give us, you'll know that you made a difference.

Uniquely, you’ll decide on your specialism. You might directly lead a team of developers – defining, planning and monitoring their work. As part of this, you’ll collaborate with project managers to effectively oversee the allocation of time. Or, you’ll be involved in analysing the wider systems and problem spaces we need to integrate. Working at both a project level and a programme level, we’ll look to you to bring clarity to complex situations. This will see you leading on the front end of the engineering lifecycle, and shaping the requirements for future developments. No matter which specialism you pursue, you’ll keep us ahead of innovations.

Your profile

To join, you’ll need experience of working on software projects where you need to understand the technical elements of the solution. This will include working on, or leading, projects relating to Windows, Linux or Mac. With your background, you’ll have a practical understanding of the principles and techniques used to shape engineering projects.

Ideally, you’ll have a background of leading software engineers. But importantly, you’ll have excellent communication skills, along with a natural ability to influence customers and stakeholders. Proactive, driven and confident, you’ll constantly improve your professional development and solve problems.

In return, you’ll take advantage of a creative environment, world-class training and flexible working. As part of the Technical Lead community, you’ll soon have an impact that’s out of this world.
