Applicants are invited to apply for the above vacancy within the Automation Group Engineering Department, based at the Port of Liverpool.

Role Purpose: To manage all automation software and hardware related to Drives, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and control systems installed on container handling equipment. To maintain the plant and equipment, ensuring that duties undertaken are of a high standard and maximise operational uptime.

This role will include the following responsibilities:

-Liaise between the Engineering Manager, Operational employees, Engineering Planners and Team Leaders to ensure a seamless maintenance routine of all assets occurs
-Manage all software and hardware installed on different types of container handling equipment while ensuring minimal down times, proper documentation and version control
-Assist in the procurement planning of spares considering maintenance schedules, consumption trends and lead times
-Collaborate with Group IT to ensure continuity on supporting the IT/Automation topology, optimising the performance of all equipment
-Troubleshooting the Automation infrastructure through to each field device, using the support of colleagues as required
-Manage all software and documentation change control for all Automation platforms

Applicants interested in this role should ideally possess the following skills and experience:
-Qualified to a minimum HNC/HND Level qualification or equivalent in a related discipline such as Electrical Engineering, Electronics or Computer Studies
-Previous experience working with Automation and Controls systems and platforms including SCADA systems is essential
-Experience of large material handling equipment, cranes and other associated heavy plant is desired
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate with a variety of individuals at different levels
-Possess an inherent ability to work within a team
-Experience of Human interface software systems, GAMP and Software lifecycles
-A full valid Driving Licence is essential
