Would you like to join the Meteorological and Oceanographic (METOC) team, working with sensors and their interfaces for various Naval ship platforms? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Systems Engineer at our site in Dorchester.
As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will undertake a range of systems engineering activities associated with the development and support of systems related to the sensing and exploitation of maritime environmental and geospatial information.
This role will provide you with the opportunity to visit and work on warships within the nation's surface fleet. You will also have the chance to work with cutting edge technology and become a subject matter expert.
Your main responsibilities as a Senior Systems Engineer will involve:
Elaborating and agreeing requirements, understanding the change in system capability against an established design baseline
Developing design specifications and carrying out design activities in line with specifications and all quality and technical standards
Participating fully in developing, maintaining and modifying engineering processes and procedures in assigned areas in response to technical developments and operational need
Carrying out technical analyses and investigations, including evaluation and selection of technical options
Preparing reports with suggested recommendations to support the design of improvements
Contributing to process improvement within the operational and/or engineering team to deliver continuous improvements in quality, cycle time and asset utilisation
Diagnosing and rectifying issues arising on equipment on site and also on board the ship
Your skills and qualifications as a Senior Systems Engineer:
Knowledge in a number of the following systems engineering disciplines:
System Acceptance Management
Trials & Integration Support
Excellent IT skills in Microsoft Word and Excel
Demonstrable experience of systems integration
