The opportunity?
 
The growing workload within MBDA has created exciting opportunities within Electronic Engineering for an Equipment Lead who will lead multi-disciplinary teams in the design and delivery of Electronic equipment for Missiles and Missile Systems. 
 
Electronic Engineering develops a range of electronic equipment including computers, telemetry, break-up and arming systems plus datalinks, which are fundamental and critical to MBDA’s ability to deliver world class military capabilities. 
 
The Role
 
The successful candidate, as an equipment design authority will lead one or more equipment designs, controlling multi-disciplinary engineering teams and managing various stakeholders in all stages of the product development process, including the manufacture of development items and product qualification. Packages of work vary in value, but can be in excess of £10m.   
 
The role is primarily technically focussed, although project management experience is needed because the interface to the project core teams is essential. This role is an ideal way to gain visibility across the company and hands-on experience of delivering complex sub-system development.

What we are looking for?
 
High performing teams need high performing and competent leaders. To be suitable for this role, Individuals will be able to demonstrate a significant number of the following attributes:
  • Substantial relevant experience and background in the design and delivery of complex electronic equipment and electronic technologies (including high end FPGA’S), preferably for harsh environments (EMC, Vibration, Thermal);
  • Solid track record and evidence of managing the development and delivery of electronic equipment to time and budget;
  • Experience in engineering leadership/management;
  • Ideally degree qualified in an engineering discipline e.g. Electronics;
  • Excellent teambuilding and management skills with the ability and experience of managing technical individuals within large, multi-disciplined teams;
  • Highly developed planning and organisation skills with the experience and ability to manage multiple projects at any given time;
  • Strong negotiating and influencing skills;
  • Good communication skills with the ability to network and influence across MBDA at both national and international level;
  • Self-starter with drive, energy and enthusiasm and a clear focus on delivery and results;
  • Strong commercial outlook, disciplined with the focus and desire to achieve objectives whilst maintaining a balance between time/quality/cost.
     
    This is a technically focussed role requiring complementary skills in project management and man management.  The successful individual will come with a solid background in Electronics and will have the ability to manage highly capable technical individuals and co-ordinate a broad range of skills across projects.
