What’s the opportunity?
An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Information Systems (IS) Architect to develop and operate our new IS Architecture office – initially in the UK.
Working with all Information Management (IM) domains, the full spectrum of internal customers plus external parties – such as vendors and service providers, the IS Architect will deliver the IS architectural strategy and standards, provide architectural input to innovation, solutions, change programmes and projects, engage with Operations for incident and problem management, and own the IM UK Architecture Repository.
What will you be doing?
The Information Systems Architect will:
  1. Lead, promote and be an advocate for Enterprise Architecture within UK Information Management.
  2. Deliver Enterprise Architecture input to UK Information Systems in the following areas:
  3. Strategy – Provide architectural input to the company five-year investment plan which ensures MBDA has a scalable, resilient, secure and cost-effective IM platform which aligns with corporate business strategy.
  4. Solutions & projects – Be responsible for tracking and developing the application portfolio, applying application life cycle strategies for acquisition, enhancement, replacement, consolidation and retirement of applications. Ensure architectural reuse, consistency and integrity within the application portfolio. Act as design authority for technical designs generated though UK IS projects.
  5. Change & Transition – Undertake the UK IS approval role at the IM Change Advisory Board.
  6. Operations – Represent the As-Is technical baseline for incident and problem resolution.
  7. Standards – Own and manage IS Enterprise Architecture standards.
  8. People – As required to deliver role, engage and influence UK and Group IM management, business stakeholders and sponsors, software vendors and service providers.
  9. Chair the UK IM Enterprise Architecture board and own the IM UK Enterprise Architecture Repository.
  10. Promote and develop EA concepts and principles throughout UK working within the TOGAF framework.

Who and waht are we looking for?
  • Broad understanding of information systems and their corresponding technology components.
  • Strong problem solving abilities.
  • Prior experience of exploiting an EA framework – TOGAF certification is a plus.
  • Prior knowledge of EA toolsets and techniques, ability to model enterprise capabilities and functions, business processes and technology interdependency.
  • Broad knowledge of enterprise architecture concepts and best practices, standards, and industry trends.
  • Strong verbal and written communication with all levels of customers with demonstrable ability to present articulate and compelling proposals to a non-technical audience.
  • Demonstrates ability to apply critical thinking and understanding to the problems and opportunities that arise with large, complex multi-disciplinary engagements.
  • Able to resolve competing requirements by analysing situations without bias, and make decisions based on what is best for all parties.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate well with others and reconcile differences among the IS team, other IM domains, vendors and service providers
