Engineering Apprentices (2 year apprenticeship)

MBNA Thames Clippers, part of AEG Europe, are London's leading River Bus service. Our fleet of high speed catamarans provide commuters and sightseers with a unique way to travel around the capital. We carry over 4 million passengers a year and employ 400 staff.

The Engineering team are looking for 3 apprentices to join them. We have an apprenticeship in each of the following disciplines:

-              Marine Engineering

-              Electrical Engineering

-              Welding & Fabrication

You will work with the Engineering team to either assist them in ensuring all mechanical and electrical systems on board MBNA Thames Clippers vessels; or assist the Welder with repairs on all steel and aluminium structures. You will ensure the appropriate materials and equipment are used for each job; and maintain a safe, professional working environment including the cleaning and maintenance of all tools and equipment.

We are looking for apprentices with a genuine desire to complete a NVQ qualification and who want a career in engineering within the Maritime industry. You must participate fully in “on the job” training and also attend all off site training as per the training provider agreement, normally one day per week.

A team player with a flexible, positive and committed attitude to work, you will thrive in a very busy environment and maintain patience and empathy even when working under pressure.

You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build good internal and external relationships.

You will earn £16,380 per year and also benefit from free travel on MBNA Thames Clippers, along with a group private pension plan, EAP, ride to work scheme or season ticket loan. We also offer discounts at bars and restaurants at The O2 and local gyms.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop your customer service and maritime skills and join an exciting and growing organisation which was voted “Employer of the Year” at the recent London Transport Awards 2017. There is real potential for internal development and promotion within our business and internal succession is one of our core values.
