Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks forms part of the FTSE-50 energy company, SSE. Our electricity distribution and transmission networks carry electricity to over 3.7 million homes and businesses across the north of Scotland and Central Southern England. Our skilled teams are based right across the regions we serve, from the bustle of West London to the smallest villages in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland.

Within Transmission, our network is in a period of rapid expansion in response to the significant growth in renewable generation connections meeting the UK climate change and renewable generation targets. This expansion includes the introduction of new technologies such as DC Subsea Links alongside circuit upgrades such as the Beauly / Denny 400 kV reinforcement.

Due to this growth, we have exciting and challenging opportunities for Transmission Control Engineers based within our Transmission Control Centre in Perth. We are looking for an experienced engineer to join our day team who will ensure that these changes are safely delivered onto the live network within the control centre. This role will involve the coordination of commissioning programs and operational data, power system analysis and ensuring the provision of appropriate SCADA displays and PSS/E models prior to network changes. In real time, commissioning and switching up to 400kV with the opportunity of moving to a senior control engineer role.

The successful candidate will hold a minimum of an HNC in electrical engineering and will have been authorised to SAP level. You will have a relevant background in power system operation and will possess strong communication skills and the ability to communicate complex issues effectively to a diverse range of stakeholders.
