At SSE we believe in making a difference. Our job is to provide the energy people need in a reliable and sustainable way. That's why we've invested over £1 billion in UK infrastructure in the past year alone, paid over £1 billion in taxes since 2011, employ over 19,000 people, and we’re ranked the largest FTSE 100 company from revenues derived solely in the UK and Ireland.

Our Generation Development business is responsible for the development and construction of SSE's portfolio of renewable energy and new gas projects. We now have over 3,500MW of renewable energy capacity in operation, under construction or with consent for development.

We have an opportunity for a Bid Director to join our Dogger Bank Offshore Wind project. This role reports into the Joint Venture Board which comprises of Directors of SSE and Statoil who govern the multi billion pound investment in the Dogger Bank projects.

You will be tasked with leading the bid team on behalf of the JV partners for the project. Working across all project disciplines, shareholders, funders and supply chain you will develop and implement a winning bid, strategy and plan.

As a key member of the project leadership team you will work with the Finance and Project Directors to lead the direction of the project to deliver a winning bid.  You will be responsible for all aspects of bid management and bid strategy for approval by the JV Board. You will ensure all necessary documentation and governance requirements are in place for a compliant bid submission and prepare and present Board papers in relation to all aspects of the bid.

To be successful in this role you will have extensive experience in leading successful multi £billion bids on complex, large scale multi-disciplinary projects and experience of working with JV partners. Due to your experience you will have a detailed understanding of bid management strategies, contract structures, financial models for project financed investments and financial investment appraisal techniques. Experience in Offshore Renewable Energy is desirable but not essential. You will have significant experience in growing, maintaining and leveraging a strong network and solid working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Due to the nature of the industry an interest and awareness of current political, environmental and business issues would be an advantage.
