Senior Consultant Engineer (Delegated Technical Authority)

Would you like to be at the forefront of design definition of an exciting new project within our advanced Combat Systems function? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Consultant Engineer (DTA) working from one of the following sites with travel to others: Frimley, Portsmouth, Weymouth or Filton.

As a Senior Consultant Engineer, you will be responsible for the definition and integrity of a new project within Combat Systems; ensuring it meets the specified requirements and integrates and operates correctly and safely, as the project development proceeds through the requirements definition phase and through to final acceptance and delivery.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to interact with a number of internal and external (ministry of defence and supply chain) stakeholders on a regular basis and work as part of a high energy team that continuously strives to delight the customer.

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Consultant Engineer (DTA) will involve:

Ensuring that the design intent is established and maintained throughout the requirement definition phase, through to product delivery and acceptance

Supporting the Engineering Manager and Project Manager in the identification of technical risk and ensuring mitigation actions are technically appropriate

Ensuring that all system and subsystem related engineering is carried out in accordance with defined processes to the satisfaction of the Combat Systems Chief Engineer

Ensuring the design is safe to build, integrate and use

Your skills and qualifications:


In depth knowledge of High Safety Integrity Level development lifecycles and culture

Strong systems engineering experience

Ability to provide technical leadership to multi-domain, multi-discipline teams

Knowledge of engineering lifecycle

Ability to manage diverse stakeholder groups, both internal and external


Knowledge of submarine/surface command and control systems

Knowledge of Model Based Systems Engineering / Engineering lifecycles in both MoD (CADMID) and /or BAE (LCM) terminology

Knowledge of Sonar Processing fundamentals

Knowledge of map/chart data types, manipulation and data presentation techniques

Knowledge of navigation data sensor systems, limitation of use, and blending of data from multiple sources

You will have excellent problem solving skills and the ability to work across multiple technology domains and engineering disciplines, and possess strong written and verbal communication skills to liaise with various internal and external stakeholders.
