Do you want to help shape the future of the world`s energy?
Nuclear fusion, the process that powers The Sun, can play a big part in our carbon-free energy future. The Culham Centre for Fusion Energy (CCFE) is part of the UK Atomic Energy Authority and is one of the world`s leading fusion research laboratories. Our scientists and engineers are working with partners around the world to develop fusion as a new source of clean energy for tomorrow`s power stations.
This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual keen to work within a small multi-disciplinary team responsible for the operation and maintenance of two of the larger European Neutral Beam Heating Systems. To ensure that the plant under their control is operated safely through careful monitoring of alarms and as part of a small team investigating the cause of such alarms. The operator will work in the multi-disciplinary JET or MAST control room under the direct instruction of the shift leader.
Working as part of a team they will provide hands-on, electrical / electronic support to large development projects and will also have responsibility for some small projects. Such projects will include some design and planning; routine maintenance and repair, and will require good time management and reporting of progress to group meetings. Written reports are expected and when necessary input to commissioning procedures and assisting with commissioning will be required.
Fully understand and work to current CCFE safety procedures and guidelines. Support and provide input to the writing of risk assessments and work control packs for projects they are involved in; comprehensive training is given.
Provide support in the design, assembly, fault diagnosis and repair of Control & Instrumentation modules and printed circuit boards required for both JET and MAST neutral beam systems.
