Product Development Engineer - Large Calibre Artillery
Would you like to play a key role in the development and delivery of new large calibre artillery shells? We currently have a vacancy for a Product Development Engineer at our site in Glascoed.
As a Product Development Engineer, you will be involved in all levels of the product lifecycle, including: concepts, development, testing, qualification, production and in-service support. You will be working with other departments to support current projects, assist with product development and support manufacture.
This role will provide you with a unique opportunity to work with a broad range of stakeholders including the UK MOD and international export customers. This is a varied role, combining hands-on and office-based product design.
Your main responsibilities as a Product Development Engineer will involve:
Conducting and managing product and process design, development, test and evaluation activities for Large Calibre Artillery products
Coordinating theoretical simulations (e.g. thermal, structural, fluids and aerodynamics)
Developing and using Safe Systems of Work
Managing suppliers, both internal and external, to ensure that development and manufacturing activities are completed to time, quality and schedule
Life Cycle Management (contributing towards design reviews) from concept to disposal
Working as part of an integrated project team, including regular engagement with project management, procurement (supply chain) and operations
Your skills and qualifications as a Product Development Engineer:
Experience in product design
Good understanding of engineering processes, with the ability to read and understand engineering drawings and models
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite

You must possess excellent communication skills, with the ability to quickly establish effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. You must be able to work collaboratively within a team and work independently, when required.
This role will require occasional travel to other manufacturing and test and evaluation sites.
