As a Chief Engineer - Assurance, Complex Systems - In Build you will be a specialist within the Complex Systems & Support Engineering Assurance Team supporting the Chief Engineer (Assurance) on new build projects.
This role will provide you with an opportunity to be heavily involved across the Complex Systems & Support Engineering Assurance department within Maritime-Submarines at a senior level.
Your main responsibilities as a Chief Engineer - Assurance will involve:
Providing combat system engineering and product assurance across all Complex Systems & Support products and services within BAE Systems maritime-submarines for new design submarines
Assuring the design coherence of the submarine complex systems within our scope of supply
Advising on the direction for the evolving design solutions through provision of specialist support and advice within the programmes and across the Complex Systems & Support directorate
Providing the complex systems & support engineering assurance to the whole boat technical authority and combat system approving authority in accordance with design management arrangements
Assuring the Chief Engineer (Assurance) that the complex systems and supporting engineering products are integrated safely and are fully compliant with the agreed requirements set, without compromising safety and has hazards which are demonstrated ALARP, is cost effective and are clearly defined, configured and controlled
Supporting the Chief Engineer (Assurance) in assuring that all engineering, prototyping and product development work requiring company or MoD funding, are technically competent and assuring exploitation routes are understood
Working across the broader BAE Systems businesses to establish joint activities which are supportive of the submarine complex systems and support programmes and business
Your skills and qualifications:
Sound experience of Systems Engineering and resolution of complex problems
Chartered Engineer status
Experience working with high integrity systems/safety critical systems within environments such as aerospace, submarine, military
Ability to build and develop a team of Suitably Qualified and Experienced Personnel
Previous experience in either a Technical Authority or Engineering Assurance role

Maritime Submarines - Combat Systems
Our Submarines business has been safely delivering world class submarines to the UK Royal Navy for more than a century. It currently employs approximately 7,700 people, with 500 of these working for Combat Systems across our sites in Barrow-in-Furness, Ash Vale, Broad Oak, Filton, Frimley and Weymouth.
We are currently responsible for the design, build, test and commissioning of the Royal Navy's latest and most capable generation of attack submarines, as well as their intelligent Combat Systems trusted to detect threats in the naval environment.
Our Combat Systems team designs, builds, integrates and supports all of the submarine combat systems in the UK fleet - essentially, the eyes and ears of each platform. We provide through-life support for combat systems, sensors and radars, and deliver complex programmes and technologies by applying expert programme management and world-class engineering.
