Human Factors Discipline Lead

Would you like to play a key role building the Human Factors capability for our Land UK business? We currently have a vacancy for a Human Factors Discipline Lead at our site in Glascoed.

As a Human Factors Discipline Lead, you will be leading the Human Factors Integration (HFI) team spanning all Land UK programmes, such as munitions, armoured vehicles and bridging products. This team is part of the Central Engineering function. You will be taking responsibility for the skill and capability for human interfaces across ergonomic, psychological and learning platforms.

This innovative role will provide you with the opportunity to influence a variety of stakeholders across the whole of the Land UK business. You will also have the chance to drive Human Factors initiatives business-wide.

Your main responsibilities as a Human Factors Discipline Lead will involve:

Developing HFI capability across Land UK, which will include building HFI plans and deploying to respective teams within the business

Planning and executing quantitative and qualitative human factors assessments (human error, workload, situation awareness, ergonomic analysis, and usability)

Using direct measurement, survey, interview, observational and documentation methods to collect and analyse data

Conducting human failure/reliability analysis and providing training and guidance to support others

Creating procedure documentation to formalise human factors working practices

Providing guidance to queries on fatigue and shift work decisions

Providing human factors expertise during accident and incident investigations

Delivering human factors awareness training and presentations

Your skills and qualifications as a Human Factors Discipline Lead:

Essential:

Degree or equivalent qualification or experience within human factors/ psychology or closely related field

Experience within a human factors related role

Desirable:

Further qualifications/study within human factors, such as master's degree or PhD

Previous experience of developing a human factors capability

You must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to enable you to articulate information to a range of stakeholders. You must also have good leadership ability to help develop and influence the human factors capability.

Location: Glascoed (will consider Newcastle, Telford or Radway Green locations for the right candidate)
