Typhoon Simulator Instructor Pilot

Would you like to play a key role in providing training support for the RAF aircrew on the Typhoon Total Availability Enterprise (TyTAN) contract? We currently have a vacancy for a Typhoon Simulator Instructor Pilot at our site in RAF Coningsby.

As a Typhoon Simulator Instructor Pilot, you will be responsible for the provision of high quality pilot training support and instruction to all Typhoon Squadrons utilising network capable synthetic training devices. You will be working in the Typhoon Training Facility (TTF) with a variety of stakeholders including BAE Systems colleagues and members of the RAF.

This varied role will provide you with the opportunity to carry out instructional activities in both classroom and simulator environments. In addition, the role includes the preparation of missions in a synthetic environment.

Your main responsibilities as a Typhoon Simulator Instructor Pilot will involve:

The provision of synthetic device technical and training expertise to constantly develop and evolve Typhoon training syllabi and scenarios to meet the customer's need

Supporting the Synthetic Environment Specialists in the provision of high quality mission support to the Typhoon Simulator, including creation of realistic scenarios and models, as well as the management of several databases

Maintaining a focus on military ethos within the TTF

Instilling and maintaining a strong 'flight safety' culture throughout the TTF

Maintaining currency and knowledge of RAF Typhoon Force operating procedures

Accurately reporting defects in synthetic device equipment to maintenance personnel and ensuring that the synthetic devices replicate the performance, handling and modification states of the aircraft

The accurate, objective and well-reasoned assessments of pilot performance and the production of written reports

Your skills and qualifications as a Simulator Instructor Pilot:


Former RAF fast jet aircrew experience

Instructional experience


Previous Typhoon flying experience

Typhoon Qualified Pilot Instructor experience

Multi role experience (ground attack and air defence)

Experience of working with networks and databases
