Shock Engineer

Would you like to join our team at an exciting time to provide engineering support to the shock design of the Type 26 platform? We currently have a vacancy for a Shock Engineer at our site in Scotstoun.

As a Shock Engineer, you will be working collaboratively with a number of different engineering teams, delivering the spatial and structural design of the ship. You will specifically be working on shock design, analysis and validation activities.

This role will provide you with the chance to work on a complex Naval project from the design phases, all the way through to acceptance and testing. You will also have the chance to be involved with the integration of these areas into the whole ship design.

Your main responsibilities as a Shock Engineer will involve:

Assessing supplier's equipment delivery with the aim to ensure supplier's delivery is compliant with the Type 26 shock requirements

Proving design and shock qualification guidance to suppliers in support of their aim to achieve shock qualification

Providing shock engineering design support and assessment to the spatial and structural integration of equipment and distributed systems throughout the Type 26 platform

Supporting and undertaking shock analysis activities, as required to achieve shock qualification of equipment and equipment integration to the platform; This includes guidance both internal to the project and to suppliers

Supporting shock qualification activities being undertaken by the Type 26 project

Your skills and qualifications as a Shock Engineer:


Experience of shock design/ shock qualification of equipment gained from a complex engineering environment

Technical knowledge of modelling techniques for shock design assessment, particularly time domain finite element analysis (FEA) and fluid structure interaction


Experience working with MOD customers

Naval platform knowledge/experience
