Senior Systems Engineer (Fuze)

Would you like to play an influential role in the development and delivery of complex munition products? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Systems Engineer (Fuze) at our site in Glascoed.

As a Senior Systems Engineer (Fuze), you will be working collaboratively as part of a team who work with the development, manufacture, testing and in-service support of munitions. More specifically, you will be responsible for development of the safety critical fuze system within the munition.

This role will provide you with a unique opportunity to have a strategic view of munitions products, as well as the chance to influence products and processes. Working across the whole systems lifecycle, you will also gain exposure to a range of senior stakeholders, including the customer.

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Systems Engineer (Fuze) will involve:

Planning and subsequent delivery of engineering tasks within your designated project

Designing and implementing new technologies that add value to the business, defining requirements sets for products, as well as defining how products are to be matured and qualified against the requirements

Defining how assurance is to be provided to the Design Authority as to the adequacy and robustness of the Safety Case and supporting documentation, as well as defining the technical risks associated with the development of a product, processes, how the risks are to be removed or mitigated

Preparing test specifications for product acceptance, designing and managing tests, compiling technical data to support design approval, as well as technical reporting

Responding to external customer technical queries

Monitoring and advising on technical activities at external suppliers

Supporting production staff to deal with product technical queries, testing and providing advice on quality

Liaising with engineers in other teams and other stakeholders to ensure integration of fuzing sub-systems at product and platform level

Your skills and qualifications as a Senior Systems Engineer (Fuze):


Degree or equivalent qualification or experience within a relevant engineering discipline

Demonstrable technical/project leadership experience

Design experience, including the design of complex sub-systems

An appreciation of multiple engineering disciplines/ systems engineering

Working towards chartership/ ability to obtain chartered status


Experience within a defence or munitions environment

Salary: £41,328+ commensurate with skills and experience
