UCL Department of Space and Climate Physics (also known as the Mullard Space Science Laboratory) is a research and teaching department of UCL that participates

in international space science missions by providing custom instrumentation, hardware and software products and by exploiting and interpreting the scientific aspects of the data that the missions obtain.

Our teaching and training programme extends to both Masters students, industrial customers and public organisations.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a Senior Teaching Fellow and Teaching Fellow to join the Technology Management Group. The successful applicants will contribute significantly to the teaching and training activities of the Group, dedicating most of their time to academic Masters-level teaching at UCL’s main campus in London, and to industrial training at various locations in the UK and overseas.

The successful applicants may also have the opportunity to conduct project management or systems engineering for one or more instrumentation development projects at the Department.

The post will be based in central London or in Holmbury St Mary (Surrey), to suit the applicant’s circumstances, but in either case, regular (once or twice per week) travel to London and at least occasional (once every few months) travel to Holmbury St Mary is likely to be necessary.

The Department is family friendly and applications would be welcome from applicants seeking part-time opportunities. Applicants for the Senior Teaching Fellow post should have a Doctorate in a relevant subject area (science, engineering or

management) or equivalent industrial experience. Applicants for the Teaching Fellow post should have a minimum of a Masters in a relevant subject area. Post holders for either post should also have excellent written and verbal communication skills, including: the ability to present complex information effectively to a range of audiences; the ability to teach technology and engineering management; and the ability to work collaboratively and as part of a team. They should have practical experience of performing technology management, systems engineering or project management.
