Would you like the chance to be involved in the painting of submarines? We currently have a vacancy for a Painter (Painting and Coatings) at our site in Barrow-In-Furness.
As a Painter (Painting and Coatings), you will be applying specialist coatings to the various substrates internally and externally on Astute class submarines. You will be finishing the submarines to the highest quality specifications working safely and efficiently to meet deadlines set by the supervisory team.
This role will provide you with the opportunity to join a growing team, developing skills to support the Astute submarine programme.
Your main responsibilities as a Painter (Painting and Coatings) will involve:
Cleaning and preparing the substrates of Astute class submarines for subsequent coating application.
Application of specialist multi pack paint systems to the internals and externals of Astute class submarines under construction.
Finishing compartments to CCI and FI standards.
Supporting Customer led inspections.
Ensuring relevant standards and processes are understood and followed.
Understanding and compliance with all relevant risk and CoSHH assessments.
Supporting the development of paint apprentices.
Your skills and qualifications:
Time served Painter
Have a good understanding and working knowledge of the strict requirements when working with Multi pack, specialised coatings systems
Experienced with working and communicating with stakeholders including peers, team leaders and managers
Experience of working within all relevant standards
Submarine construction experience

Our Submarines business has been safely delivering world class submarines to the UK Royal Navy for more than a century.
The Astute class will equip the Royal Navy with its largest and most capable generation of attack submarines. We are responsible for the design, build, test and commissioning of these state-of-the-art vessels. In total, seven boats will make up the fleet, each weighing a mighty 7,400 tonnes.
Dreadnought is the successor to the Vanguard class of nuclear deterrent submarines. We will deliver four submarines to the Royal Navy, with the first submarine entering service in the early 2030s. Dreadnought is widely considered to be one of the world's most complex engineering challenges.
