Environmental Technician

Would you like to work in an exciting role with the opportunity to develop yourself and skillset? We currently have a vacancy for an Environmental Technician at our site in Bishopton.

As an Environmental Technician, you will be a member of the Bishopton Programme team supporting remediation operational activities and the remediation verification and environmental monitoring regimes. This key role will involve liaising with various contractors, management and collection of soil, ground/surface water and dust samples through to data collation, manipulation and presentation.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to gain experience on the largest brownfield site in the UK with exposure to a wide range of regulatory regimes.

Your main responsibilities as an Environmental Technician will involve:

Soil, gas, groundwater and dust monitoring using scientific equipment

Soil and water sampling by various field methods

Sample integrity and courier management

Contractor liaison

4x4 driving on site

Report production

Project management

Report figures and appendices production

Data handling, manipulation and screening using MS Excel and Word

Exploratory hole log production

General office administration

Your skills and qualifications:


Degree or currently working towards a degree in one of the following subjects; Earth Sciences/Geology/Environmental Science/Geo Environmental/Ecology

Experience of data handling, manipulation and screening using MS Excel and Word

Full UK driving licence due to driving 4x4's on site


Knowledge of contaminated land, planning and or waste regimes

Experience of field work

Knowledge of environmental management

What we're looking for in you:

This role may be of interest to a recent graduate or current undergraduate student looking to gain experience over the summer.

You will be self-motivated, with good planning and organising skills. You must also have excellent written and verbal communication skills, together with the ability to work well, both independently and as part of a team.

Salary: £16,800 per annum
