Job Title: Protection Commissioning Engineer
Location: Reading, Berkshire
Salary: £48,121 - £63,551 depending on skills and experience + car/cash allowance

Permanent | Full Time Hours | 37 hours per week 

Our Role 

The Strategic Investment Technical services Group are a focused team specialising in the design, construction and commissioning of protection and control systems within the Distribution network. Due to continued growth we are recruiting a Protection Commissioning Engineer to join the Technical Services Protection and Control Team.
The Protection Commissioning Engineer will promote operational safety across the Distribution network in the South, developing safe systems of work, identifying how protection schemes can assist in network safety. Working with trainee engineers as well as with other experienced commissioning engineers, you will be responsible for ensuring that protection schemes are commissioned and maintained correctly, Ensuring the network operates safely and effectively. You will also ensure all plant and equipment information is recorded and added to the SEPD asset database.
Your Skills and Experience 

To be successful in this role you will preferably be Senior Authorised to 33Kv with SFT or working towards this level, experienced in a similar role commissioning and maintaining protection schemes. Knowledge of protection grading and settings calculations is desirable.

Managing safety is essential and you will be confident in fault finding and be proactive in finding solutions and developing improvements. You will be an excellent team player and be comfortable engaging with key stakeholders across the business with demonstrable experience managing sub-contractors and third-party vendors.

A minimum HNC in a relevant subject is preferred, in addition to experience in this field with a DNO or a supplier to the industry.
