What’s the opportunity?
Manufacturing UK is an integral part of the Operations Directorate whose principal mission is to ensure that MBDA’s deliverable commitments are met in terms of time, cost and quality.
An opportunity has arisen for a high calibre and experienced New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineer to make a significant contribution to the industrialisation of complex products in a defence industry environment.   This is an excellent opportunity to join the UK Manufacturing team at the Stevenage site working closely with Design Teams, Manufacturing teams at Bolton and supply chain professionals.
 
What will you be doing?
  • Develop robust Design for Manufacture and Design for Test solutions in a frequently changing prime design environment.
  • Development and implementation of manufacturing and test architectures to meet design and production requirements.
  • Creation and execution of Industrial Validation Plans to ensure robust and comprehensive technical solutions are available both in our manufacturing facility and supply chain.
  • Initiate and lead process and technology improvements to deliver continuous improvements in quality, cycle time and asset availability.
  • Manage and report against the project/unit work programmes, including analysis of risk.
  • Risk identification and aversion strategies associated with technical definition and manufacturing methodologies.
  • Develop, maintain and control technical interfaces to customers, suppliers and collaborators to ensure effective and swift resolution of technical issues.
  • Develop and maintain engineering project plans and budget profiles to ensure delivery of milestones to agreed cost targets and timescales.
  • Provide technical leadership and direction to a multi-disciplined engineering team to ensure the industrial architecture and processes are capable of delivering our products on time on cost and to the quality our customers demand.
  • Identify skills and facility requirement to meet the needs of new product technology.

Who and what we are looking for from you?
  • Ideally degree qualified or equivalent, plus substantial relevant experience in a complex Electronic or Electro–Mechanical manufacturing environment.
  • Extensive experience in engineering leadership/management.
  • In depth knowledge of the design, make, prove interface role and Design for Manufacture and Test.
  • A good understanding of Project Management and Supply Chain principles, practices and processes.
  • Good commercial and financial understanding.
  • Good Negotiating and influencing skills.
  • Highly developed communication skills: able to communicate verbally and in writing.
