Would you like to work within a varied role across complex engineering programmes for the Royal Navy? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Engineer - Airborne Noise at our site in Barrow-in-Furness.
As a Senior Engineer - Airborne Noise, you will be part of the Noise and Vibration Engineering Department (NAVED), working within a team of technical experts at the forefront of technology as an integral part of delivering submarine performance. You will be primarily working with compartmental noise activities; coordinating the successful integration of specific equipment into the compartments and ultimately ensuring airborne noise target levels are achieved.
This role will provide you with exposure to the design, build and test phases across the whole boat, whilst working on emerging technologies and providing innovative engineering solutions. There will also be vast career progression opportunities, with the chance to develop within various technical specialties or a management role.
Your main responsibilities as a Senior Engineer - Airborne Noise will involve:
Modelling activities and predictions
Airborne noise activities relating to issues, such as: sleep interference, speech intelligibility, habitability and health & safety of the operators on board
Ensuring airborne noise levels fit requirements
Working with various internal stakeholders, including system engineers and designers, to ensure noise level requirements are satisfied
Ensuring the design and build comply with legal requirements relating to noise levels
Your skills and qualifications as a Senior Engineer - Airborne Noise:
Degree in STEM discipline or equivalent qualification or experience
Relevant experience may include:
-Navy operator/maintainer for submarines or surface ships with acoustics knowledge
-Mathematical modelling/computational modelling background
-Noise Vibration and Harshness (NVH) within the automotive industry
-Off-shore engineering sector
-Power generation sector
-Building acoustics sector
-Environmental (EIA) sector
Membership of professional body (i.e. IET, IMechE, IOA, IMA, IOP))
Professional registration or working towards (i.e. CEng, IEng)

You must also possess excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and build effective working relationships with various stakeholders.
