The Opportunity
We believe that integration of Human Factors is critical to the development of safe, usable and effective Weapon Systems. The Human Factors department is responsible for ensuring that the user is fully considered in the weapon system, from initial design through development and delivery to the customer.
We are looking for a highly capable, versatile and enthusiastic Human Factors Engineer to work within our international HF team and expand our local HF capability at MBDA Stevenage. This presents a great opportunity for someone with a real passion for HF to meet the challenge of working in a small team in a dynamic environment delivering across multiple projects whilst needing to build an onward portfolio and reputation.
The Role
  • Plan, control and deliver assigned HF projects or work packages, and make an input as required to cross functional projects/investigations, ensuring requirements are delivered to plan.
  • Prepare a full range of HF solutions, develop designs in line with requirements and all quality and technical standards, and carry out design appraisals in assigned areas to ensure all standards are maintained.
  • Evaluate HF technical issues in order to develop proposals for investigations and/or solutions.
  • Provide effective support to customers in assigned areas, delivering HF solutions to meet the customer needs and requirements.
  • Make HF engineering decisions within own sphere of responsibility and delegated authority.
  • Contribute to identifying future business opportunities and support bid and tendering processes for projects to ensure that bids meet customer needs; that they are in line with all business and commercial criteria

What’s great about the team?
  • The MBDA HF team is an international team with personnel delivering HF services to domestic and export customers in the UK, Italy and France.
  • HF personnel are currently deployed across Air Defence and Surface Attack projects in all domains with a focus on Operator in the Loop Command and Control Systems.
  • We also deliver externally funded research to the UK MOD and other European constructs
  • The UK HF department currently has 11 HF Engineers with varying levels of experience and a diverse range of skills.

What are we looking for?
  • Relevant Engineering or Science based Degree
  • Member of the Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors
  • A good and demonstrable understanding of the application of Human Factors Integration & Human Factors Engineering
  • Good understanding of Systems Engineering and disciplines who interact with Human Factors (Supportability, Training, Systems)
  • Good understanding of the user community and military ways of working
  • Good planning and business development skills
  • Customer focused
  • Effective communication skills
