Join us and make CCTV save lives
Today, technology plays a huge role in protecting our vast and vibrant capital. Surveillance cameras are particularly key for Counter Terrorism (CT) operations. As an Operational Deployment Engineer, you’ll help us use and look after these vital systems – a task where you’ll be using a range of engineering skills to help keep millions of Londoners safe.
As part of the Technical Operations team within our SO15 – CASU Unit, you’ll prepare, install, repair and maintain the Met’s electronic surveillance equipment. You’ll work alongside engineering staff, officers and CCTV Planners, both in a workshop and on field-based deployments. It’s therefore important that you’re ready for some difficult and challenging environments. But rest assured, that your efforts will support critical counter terrorism operations.
Knowledgeable and experienced, you’ll be accredited in covert CCTV deployment and RF transmission. You’ll also have a good grasp of IP networks and a recognised Engineering qualification (or equivalent). However, while technical skills are important, you’ll need more than this to succeed. We’re also looking for initiative and a responsible, organised approach to work. We’ll expect you to manage your own workload and take ownership of tasks. And crucially, you must be ready to work as part of an ‘on-call’ rota and sometimes outside office hours. Good people skills will be essential too, as you’ll be working as part of a team, building relationships, and, if necessary, dealing with the public.
Able to drive Met vehicles and handle classified information, you’ll have integrity and the flexibility to deploy in London and further afield.
Please note that this role is subject to security vetting.
